I joined a few hardy sketchers from Cambridge Drawing Society to draw the Christmassy lights in the centre of town. We met on Saturday at 4pm which was a very cold winter's day and went our separate ways to find something to draw.
It being so cold I wandered into the Grand Parade and heard the sound of the 'Singing Reindeers' on the first floor.
Many families came to see the show and the young children were enthralled, each responding in their own way with a lot dancing to the tunes. An empty seat opposite the show meant I could sit in a corner and draw discreetly. I drew happily for just over an hour and then went to meet my fellow sketchers with the sound of reindeers singing still in my head.
One of the reasons I love urban sketching is that I never know what I am going to draw until I see it.
Unfortunately due to expected winds reaching 52 knots, Mill Road Winter Fair has been cancelled
BUT ROMSEY MILL WILL BE OPEN as it is a Community Centre. Activities for children will still take place ad I will be there with other artists displaying our work. We know it may be an effort to visit but we would love to see you and to chat about our work. There is also a café which will be open.
Many of the shops down Mill ROAD will have prepared for the Fair for many months and ordered in special stock so if you could visit them too, please do.
