How wonderful to be able to exhibit in person again with the Cambridge Drawing Society.
Dur to the pandemic all exhibitions had been cancelled for the Cambridge Drawing Society. There was an exhibition online but it is so much nicer to actually view the works up close. With over 100 artists showing their work over the half term I actually visited it three times to look properly at all the works. My first visit was when it opened as I delivered some of my Lockdown Sketchbooks for the sale table.
Imagine my surprise when I saw the amount of visitors, it was not only the artists that had missed exhibitions but also the public. When I eventually found the three paintings I had entered I found a couple discussing my work and could not help introducing myself as the artist. I was delighted when they bought one of my favourite works entitled 'Seven Sisters', a flock of 7 white birds in a tree with red flowers and 23 carat bark, inspired by designs in old manuscripts. Always lovely to meet the buyers.
Exhibition is 23 -30 October 2021. Next one will be in the Spring half term.
I am really excited to have been invited to talk about my Lockdown Sketches to local art group, Cambridge Drawing Society.
During Lockdown 2 and 3, I made a sketch a day based of what I was doing, Covid or the top news items. The sketches were a mish mash of drawing with my art students via Zoom, making jam, going out for a daily walk and the news such as the US election and Johnson giving us a daily briefing.
I made my sketches into two books and these are for sale on my website (look up Shop, then Books).
It is the first time I have been asked to talk about them. If you would like a link to watch my talk please contact me.
