Sometimes a bit of fantasy happens, this is what took over in the Sleepy Panda painting.
I started out to paint a Tree of Life and got carried away with a whole load of random animals, birds and finally insects. The creature that stood out was the panda, fast asleep on a branch, hence the title.
I painted this in lockdown when time was on my side with very little interruptions and the painting just got busier and busier. I am really pleased with it and happy I included the hare which has actually appeared in a few other paintings of mine usually chased by a dog seen in a medieval illustration when I was studying the manuscripts at the Parker Library in Cambridge.
