This is one of those paintings that started with one idea and finished with something totally different!

My original idea was to paint a tree of a hill with a couple of little girls sitting on a bench admiring the view. Things changed when I went sketching and propped by bike against a tree, so when I got home I painted my red bicycle. Left now with a huge space I waited for inspiration. My new idea was to paint two empty canvas directors chairs...... didn't look right! Next I painted the stool and then the cat and I filled in the rest with the picnic and lots of objects among the millefluer.

I painted this during the first lockdown. Time stood still then and my paintings became even more detailed than usual.
