'Meet you at the Fountain' is a square painting in acrylic and oil on canvas with a simple white wooden frame. The image is of the glorious greenhouses at the Cambridge Botanic Gardens with the fountain and several people walking by.
Like all my paintings, this one tells a story. So many people visit the gardens to see the plants, immerse themselves in the greenhouses or to meet others for a coffee and a walk. I have depicted all age groups including a schoolboy who has taken a short cut through the gardens to reach the railway station before going home to do his homework.
The grass is divided into layers with more and more plants in the foreground. This is a nod to my love of medieval art and the millefleur that appears in so many paintings and tapestries from that time.
The painting is at Byard Art Gallery in Cambridge for their Christmas Cracker exhibition.
