The first of my series of 'books in trees' in a tall format 20 x 40cms plus frame.

The tree is shown as a cross section and is covered in copper leaf. On the branches are stacked a lot of books crammed into the spaces, as if visiting a second hand bookshop. Under the tree a few books have fallen off the branches and are intermingled with flowers, grass and mushrooms between the roots which are clearly seen.

I love the shape and size of this series. Perhaps because these paintings are smaller than my normal size I have painted them in intricate detail meaning they each take ages to complete!

Mostly sold, I only have two left of the series but shall no doubt add more in the next year or so as they are perfect to hang in small spaces.
