Cherry trees are also known as Japanese Cherry or Sukura but whatever their name, the blossom in the Spring is quite stunning. This was especially so when I walked around Cambridge during the Covid-19 pandemic. With very few people around, a clear blue sky set off the dramatic pink blossom spectacularly well. One of the best specimens was in Great St Mary's churchyard which was so wide it would not fit onto my square panel on which I was painting.
