This painting was a commission.

Clare had fallen in love with my paintings but all the larger ones had been sold so she asked me to paint her one.

The brief was to make a large tree with a lady in it, similar to another painting of mine titled Tree of Light. Clare showed me where the painting would hang and I felt it need lots of colour so I covered it with pink blooms with golden yellow stamens. The ground is covered by the mille fleur and the pattern of the dress is based on those of old. She was delighted with it and it now hangs with other paintings by me on her open plan large, ground floor.
