I love trees and this is the first one I have painted so simply. It is an apple tree called Orange Pippin and I love the two strong colours of orange and green together.

We have some really old apple trees in the garden. The houses were built in 1924 which means they are 100 years old. Chivers, who made jams and preserves, grew fruit in north Cambridge and donated apples, pears and plum trees for everyone buying a house here. When we moved in many moons ago there were two apple trees, a pear, a plum tree and a greengage and they all fruited well because of the other fruit trees around. But unfortunately fruit trees don't grow forever and we only have one apple and one greengage still standing. They make marvellous jam and apple crumbles!
